The Institute announces with deep regret the death of Emeritus Professor Motohiko Nagano on December 13, 2014.
Prof. Nagano received his PhD from Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1970, and started his career at ICRR as an assistant professor in 1974, since when he made numerous scientific contributions in the field of Cosmic Rays by building large-scale detectors such as the air-shower detector with the world’s largest effective area, AGASA.
