Prof. Masami Ouchi of ICRR was awarded the Young Scientist&#8217;s Prize for his pioneering studies into the early universe by utilizing narrow band-width filters which allow for wide-field multi-wavelength observations.<\/p>\n<p><figure style=\"width: 320; float:left;\">\n <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/prwps\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/20140415ouchi_01.jpg\" width=\"300\"\/><br \/><figcaption>Assoc. Prof. Masami Ouchi of ICRR receives the MEXT Young Scientist&#8217;s Prize<\/figcaption>\n <\/br><\/figure>\n<p>\n Upon reception of the Prize, Dr. Ouchi comments, &#8220;I owe much of this honor to my family and colleagues. I take the award as a sign of encouragement for me, as well as for students and young researchers in my group, to continue on with more exciting research and to lead the frontier in research breakthrough, which I aim to do. I would also like to share the excitement of understanding the Universe, which is full of mysteries, with general public, especially the young people who will lead us tomorrow.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Assoc. Prof. Ouchi, who leads the Observational Cosmology group at ICRR, specializes in observational techniques, pursuing exploration programs aimed at uncovering the most distant galaxies yet to be seen
