About two-third of them visited ICRR.

They took a short lecture presented by Dr. Daniela Hadasch, project assistant professor working in the Cherenkov Gamma Ray Group which plays a key role in the CTA project. The students learned what gamma rays from outer space are and how to detect them by ground based telescopes. Furthermore, they learned about first large size telescope (LST1) of the Cherenkov Telescope Array. LST1 is already completed and operated in La Palma, Canary Island, Spain. After the lecture, the students took a look at devices: a high precision segmented mirror, a camera cluster developed for LST and the special exhibition box for Cherenkov light mechanisms. They listened to detailed explanations of project-researcher, Marcel Strzys and doctor-course students. The visitors were very interested and asked many questions.

Dr. Hadasch answering questions from South America students in Spanish

Graduate student (D3), Tomohiro Inada explaining about function of a high precision segmented mirror for CTA

Project-researcher, Marcel Strzys explaining how to detect cosmic rays and gamma rays from outer space by ground based Cherenkov telescope

Cherenkov Telescope Array Project

About sixty high school students from China, Uzbekistan, Peru and Chile visited ICRR and took a short lecture …

[18

post-7093","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","taxo_news-topics","en-US
["GET
