Prof. Makoto Kobayashi and Prof. Toshihide Maskawa published their Nobel Prize winning theory in Progress of Theoretical Physics on February 1, 1973. This ground-breaking paper helped to explain the peculiar imbalance of matter and antimatter in the universe. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of this accomplishment, KEK, which has been conducting experimental verification of the Kobayashi-Maskawa Theory, is holding a symposium that gives an overview of the research of the two professors, the birth and establishment of this theory and what lies ahead for young generations.
