Deadline on Jan 30, 2023 Job description: We invite applications for a postdoctoral research position at Columbia University to conduct research with the GAPS Antarctic balloon program, the first experiment optimized specifically for cosmic antiprotons, antideuterons, and antihelium as signatures of dark matter. GAPS is funded for its first two launches, with Flight 1 scheduled for late 2023. The Columbia University group is leading overall payload integration, in particular the Si tracker system at the center of the experimental design. We are seeking a talented applicant to take a leading role in experiment integration and testing, flight analysis, and next-generation detector R&D. Ideal candidates will have experience with instrumentation, in particular hardware commissioning, as well as particle physics simulation and data analysis tools. Review of applications will begin on January 15, but applications will be accepted until a suitable candidate is found. The anticipated start date is July 2023, but earlier or later start-dates are also possible. The successful applicant must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in Physics, Astronomy, or a related discipline by the arranged start date. The initial appointment will be for one year, with an anticipated renewal for up to three years. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to available budgets, qualifications, and experience. Deadline on Jan 31, 2023 Job description: Northeastern University, located in the heart of Boston, MA, welcomes applications for a two-year Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The position is immediately available, and this two-year position will provide an opportunity to be involved in the SuperCDMS project. SuperCDMS is a joint DOE/NSF/CFI G2 direct dark matter search experiment located at SNOLAB in Canada. The early operation at the Cryogenic Underground TEst (CUTE) facility is ongoing, and the full operation in SNOLAB will begin in 2024. The successful candidate can also be involved in the GAPS/GRAMS missions. The GAPS first balloon flight is scheduled from the Antarctic in 2023/2024, while the GRAMS LArTPC R&D is in progress at Northeastern University. Qualifications: Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics or a related field. Experience in data analysis and laboratory work. Successful candidates will be able to undertake substantially full-time research or scholarship, work under the supervision of a senior scholar, and have the ability to communicate and coordinate with multiple senior researchers from different fields.
