The series "Tours Symposium on Nuclear Physics" started off in 1991, and the meeting was organized every three years up to the 6th meeting in 2006 in Tours (France). Then, the Tours Symposium started to travel, and its latest edition was held in Kobe (Japan), where also new, selected topics related to nuclear physics and astrophysics were included. The 8th "Tours Symposium" will comprise the following main topics. * Nuclear Astrophysics * Superheavy Elements * Physics of Exotic Nuclei * Extreme Energy Cosmic Rays * Hypernuclei * Nuclear Physics with Photons Preceding to the symposium, there will be a school-type event for students and younger participants, where introductory lectures on the main topics will be given. The symposium will be hosted by GSI and is jointly organized with GANIL, Brussels University, Dubna, RIKEN, and Konan University. The symposium is also supported by the French-Japanese International Associated Laboratory (LIA) for Nuclear Structure Problems. The symposium represents the JSPS-DFG Bilateral Program between Konan University and GSI.
