Dear Colleague, Announcement and Call for Papers: COSPAR Session on ¡ÈSources of Galactic Cosmic Rays in the Galaxy¡É COSPAR event E1.6 and joint E1.6/E1.4 event Abstract Deadline: Feb. 15, 2004 The COSPAR meeting for 2004 will be held in Paris on July 18-24. I would like to call your attention to the COSPAR sessions titled "E1.6 Sources of Cosmic Rays in the Galaxy". This event will focus on the observational and theoretical evidence from recent work that bears on the sources and acceleration of cosmic rays in the galaxy. It will include measurements of elemental and isotopic composition, measurements of energy spectra, and measurements of electrons and antiparticles. It will also include observations of supernova remnants at X-ray and gamma-ray wavelengths with specific relevance to Galactic Cosmic Rays in a joint session with E1.4 (Young Neutron Stars and Supernova Remnants), and it will cover recent theoretical models of particle injection, acceleration, and galactic propagation. We would like to encourage you to submit contributed oral and poster papers for this conference. Important deadlines are: Deadline for receipt of COSPAR abstracts: 15 February, 2004 Deadline for Financial Support Application: 15 February, 2004. Early Deadline for Pre-Registration: 15 May, 2004 Late Deadline for Pre-conference Registration: 16 May-10 July, 2004 Deadline for Hotel Registration: 1 July 2004 For additional information, go to the COSPAR website at http://www.copernicus.org/COSPAR/COSPAR.html Solicited papers that will be presented in the E1.6 sessions are: 1.
