The Nuclear Science Symposium (NSS) and Medical Imaging Conference (MIC) is an annual international event that brings together the scientific communities designing and utilising radiation detector systems, in particular for fundamental physics research, applied physics and advanced medical imaging. The two congresses will be held in San Diego, California. Being a southern California location, the weather is typically spectacular this time of the year. The scope of the two congresses will, together, cover a wide range of applications, from radiation detection and new detector materials, electronics and image reconstruction algorithms to complex radiation detector systems for physical science and advanced imaging systems for biological and medical research. This year we are expanding the program to include the semi-annual International Workshop on Room Temperature Semiconductor X- and Gamma-Ray Detectors (RTD Workshop). The topics covered by this workshop correlate directly with numerous topics of interest to both the NSS and MIC attendees, and all conference registrants will have equal access to all programs. In addition, the Symposium on Nuclear Power Systems (SNPS) will also be holding their annual activities in conjunction with the NSS. The programme, extending over a period of one week, will include: - short-courses and tutorials, - oral presentations in plenary and parallel sessions, - poster sessions, - workshops and specialised meetings, - social events and companion program, - an industrial exhibition including all the major industrial partners. Authors are invited to submit papers describing original, previously unpublished work. The deadline for submission of abstracts to the NSS, MIC and SNPS is April 20, 2001 - for the RTD Workshop it is June 15, 2001. Information on how to submit an abstract, a list of topics and details on the Conference are available at the Conference website: WEB site: http://www.nss-mic.org We are looking forward to a technically stimulating and socially engaging experience in one of the most attractive locations in California. On behalf of the 2001 IEEE NSS/MIC Organizing Committee. ---------------------------end of announcement----------------------------
