「ベトナムへの書籍寄贈」のお願い

  先日、来日されましたハノイの Institute for Nuclear Science and Technique
(INST) 所長 Vo Van Thuan 氏とニュートリノ振動ワークショップでお会いした折、
同氏より「ベトナムではこれから若い物理研究者の育成に大いに力を入れたいと
考えているのだが、財源不足のために英文図書や英文雑誌を手に入れることがほ
とんど出来ず、教育もままならない状況にある」という話をうかがいました。
そこでワークショップに出席していた 2, 3の者で話し合い、日本の物理研究者あ
るいは研究機関で不用となった英文の単行本、雑誌および国際会議の proceedings
などを INST に寄贈する方法を検討することになりました。
  幸い、理研の御好意により、理研に寄贈図書を一時保管する場所を確保して下さ
り、更に理研からハノイまでの輸送費を負担して下さるとの御申し出を頂きました。
  そこで、もし不用になりました物理学（特に素粒子、原子核、宇宙線とその関連
分野）の英文単行本、教科書、雑誌および国際会議のproceedingsなどをお持ちの方
でこの趣旨に御賛同下さる方がいらっしゃいましたら、下記の「発送の手引き」に
従ってご協力くださいます様、お願い申し上げます。

発送の手引

　この度は「ベトナム書籍協力」にご賛同下さいまして誠にありがとうございます。
書籍の選別と発送の手間を効率化するために、皆様に以下のような手順で手続きを
していただきたく存じます。お手数ですが、どうぞご協力ください。

（１）書籍の名称、巻番号、冊数を次のホームページにあるフォーマットに記入の上、
　　　ベトナム側の図書委員会に送付してください。
          http://rarfaxp.riken.go.jp/~ayoshida/inst/vn-lib.html
　　　なお、記入時の画面を印刷しておいてください。（３）で使います。

（２）図書委員会から皆様へお礼のe-mailを送らせていただきます。
　　　これが届きましたら、（３）に従って書籍を理研までお送りください。
　　　また重複する書籍があった場合、誠に失礼ではございますが、輸送経費削減の
      ため、
　　　当委員会からお断りのご連絡をさしあげることがございます。ご了承ください。

（３）集まった書籍を発送するまでの間，理研にて保管場所を確保いたしました。

       Ref.: a call for volunteers to assist establishing a
       library in nuclear physics
       at the Institute for Nuclear Science and Technique
       (INST), Hanoi, Vietnam.


        Dear Colleagues,

        The Institute for Nuclear Science and Technique (INST)
        (Hanoi, Vietnam),
        which belongs to the Vietnam Atomic Energy Commission (VAEC),
        is a leading institute
        in nuclear physics in Vietnam. The INST is now carrying out
        a program for PhD students and,
        in cooperation with the Hanoi University of Science,
        the undergraduate and  postgraduate training.
        There are about 100 undergraduate and postgraduate
        students currently studying nuclear physics
        (mostly, experimental nuclear  physics) in Hanoi
        and few students from other
        cities. In the future,
        we foresee an increase of number of young people,
        who are  interested in fundamental
        research and development of high technology.

        A big  problem is how to provide these people with updated
        scientific information.
        Recently, thank to a scientific cooperation with the Institute
        for Physical and Chemical Research (RIKEN),
        a Computer Center for  Nuclear Science (CCNS) with the internet
        connection has been established
        at the INST in 1997 with the support by two Japanese electronic
        companies Fujitsu and NEC.
        The CCNS has been proved to be a powerful tool to improve the
        situation.
        However, we have still a lack of scientific library for
        education and research in the fields of nuclear physics.

       During the workshop on ''Neutrino oscillations and their origin''
       held in Fuji-yoshida,
       Japan on 11-13 February 2000, I discussed with
       Prof. A. Masaike  (Kyoto), Prof. J. Arafune (ICRR),
       Dr. M. Honda (ICRR), Dr. S. Mihara (ICEPP), and other
       Japanese colleagues on a possibility to ask
       Japanese colleagues to collect  used books and
       journals in nuclear physics, particle physics and  related
       areas to assist Vietnamese students and several
       hundreds Vietnamese  scientists working
       now in R-D for peaceful
       application of nuclear physics and nuclear  energy.
       In addition, within the framework of RIKEN - VAEC agreement
       on  scientific co-operation, RIKEN
       is kindly giving us a space to keep the collected
       books and journals as well
       as a financial support to ship them later one
       from RIKEN to Hanoi, Vietnam.

        For this reason, I appreciate very much your support and
        encouragement in collection of English books and
        journals for a nuclear physics library in Vietnam.
        This may include periodic journals,
        proceedings, monographs, and  textbooks.

        In order to arrange the operation in an efficient way for
        the fruitful use of the future library,
        a preliminary selection by e-mail exchange of a list of
        journals and  books to  be sent
        to Hanoi would be highly appreciated. For this purpose,
        we have set up a web  page for
        interacting and material  selection before sending.
        We would like to ask you to kindly
        fill in the  form posted at
        http://rarfaxp.riken.go.jp/~ayoshida/inst/Offer-Form.html for
        the books and journals that you may offer us. Our library committee
        will reply   you as soon
        as possible to reconfirm our selection based on your form.
        After that  you may send the
        selected collection to RIKEN. Detailed instructions on
        sending books and journals to RIKEN
        will be given in a separated letter in Japanese
        by our RIKEN colleagues.

        your sympathy to the nuclear physics community in Vietnam,
