The initial appointment will be for 1 year, with the possibility of extension, subject to both satisfactory progress and continued availability of funds. The successful applicant will work with Professor Jamie Holder as a member of the VERITAS Collaboration. VERITAS is an imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope array located in Tucson, Arizona, which recently began taking data. The research will involve the analysis and interpretation of VERITAS observations of astrophysical gamma-ray sources. Design studies and technical development for next generation instruments are also foreseen. A background in the methods and instrumentation of experimental high energy astrophysics would be an advantage. The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Delaware is a major research department which includes the Bartol Research Institute.
