概要：

マックスプランク物理学研究所（ミュンヘン）では、MAGIC による高エネルギー
ガンマ線天文学を推進するために、若手研究員（ポストドク）を若干名、募集い
たします。宇宙線物理、ガンマ線天文学、高エネルギー物理、宇宙物理学の分野
など、隣接分野での経験をもつ若手研究者を望みます。


研究内容：

現在、最初の望遠鏡(MAGIC-I) は過去１年半順調な稼動を続けており、
多くのサイエンティフィックなデータを生み出しています。
来年2007年には２台目の望遠鏡(MAGIC-II) が完成し、大型望遠鏡による
ステレオ観測を開始します。また、MAGIC-II, HESS-II 後の、２０１０年頃を
目指して次世代大型チェレンコフ望遠鏡アレイの R＆D を HESS グループと
共同で進めています。

今回の研究員には MAGIC-I の運転、データ解析、MAGIC-II の建設、
MAGIC-I-II のステレオデータ解析、次世代大型望遠鏡の R＆D 等の活発な
研究活動が期待されています。

２００６年６月以降、可能な限り早い時期


着任期間：
２年間（６年間まで延長可能）


給与：
ドイツの公務員法によって規定されています（年金、保険などを含む）。


その他：
MAGIC はドイツ、イタリア、スペイン、スイスを中心とする国際共同実験です。
また、MPI Astroparticle Physics 部門では外国人研究者が半数以上であり、
研究上の公用語は英語です。英語での研究上のコミュニケーションが可能で
あることが要求されます。ドイツ語は研究上必要ありませんが、簡単な会話が
できれば、実生活は非常にスムーズです。

The Max Planck Institute for Physics is one of the world's leading 
research institutes, focused on particle and astroparticle physics 
from both an experimental and a theoretical perspective.
Our research activities in astroparticle physics comprise participation 
in the gamma ray telescope MAGIC at the La Palma Observatory, 
the future space mission EUSO, and the CRESST dark matter search at 
Gran Sasso.

The Max Planck Institute for Physics invites applications for 
a Postdoctoral Position in highenergy gamma ray astrophysics to 
strengthen our experimental astroparticle physics group.

MAGIC is the world's largest ground based Imaging Atmospheric 
Cherenkov telescope studying the deep universe with high energy gamma 
rays above 30 GeV. The scientific objectives are not only the study 
of high energy astronomical objects, e.g. AGNs, GRBs, Pulsars, and 
SNRs, but also the investigation of fundamental physics, such as the 
search for Dark Matter and tests for Lorentz invariance. 
The first telescope has been in scientific operation since summer of 
2004 and the second telescope is now under construction and will 
be completed in 2007.

We are looking for a young postdoctoral researcher who can contribute 
to the MAGIC experiment or the study of the next generation Cherenkov 
telesopes. Candidates with an experimental background in cosmic-ray 
physics, gamma-ray physics, or neighbouring fields, such as elementary 
particle physics and astrophysics, are invited to apply.

Interested scientists should send their applications (including a CV, 
list of publications and research interest) until the end of May 2006 
and arrange for three recommendation letters to be received by the same 
date. 

The position is limited to a period of initially two years, with 
the possibility of an extension by up to four years. Salary and 
benefits are in accordance with the German public service pay scale (TVoD).
