Motivated by new exciting results recently obtained by VLBI and comprehensive multi-wavelength studies of AGN jets (from radio to gamma rays), we are organizing a workshop aiming at (i) presenting observational/theoretical progress and clarifying current challenges of AGN jets, and (ii) having a variety of discussions and exchanging ideas to move forward. On 17 Jan, we will start from a joint-session of "Introduction to black bole (BH) shadow". In this session, we invite two lecturers as follows: Pu H.-Y. (ASIAA) "Introduction to BH shadow: 　　　　　　　　　　　　 related physics and challenges" Akiyama K. (MIT) "Introduction to BH shadow imaging" During the workshop (Jan 18-20), we will mainly address the following topics: 1. JET FUNDAMENTAL Can jets be explained by Blandford-Znajek model? What's the origin of spine-structures? Dissipative Poynting flows? reconnection vs shock? 2. PURSUIT OF ACCRETION FLOWS AND CIRCUMNUCLEAR MEDIUM Can we see G2-disturbance in Sgr A*? Accretion flow properties in M87? Dense circumnuclear medium in 3C84 (NGC1275)? 3. NEW RADIO SURVEYS Is the "blazar-sequence" universal? Radio emission properties at mm/submm domain? (KASI) : KaVA/KVN, Sgr A* These invited speakers will present new observational and/or theoretical aspects lined th the key topics shown above. Keynote Speakers Ohira Y. (Aoyama Gakuin U) : Particle acceleration, Dissipation Kino M. (KASI/NAOJ) : Jet energetics Toma K. (Tohoku U) : Jet dynamics These keynote speakers will review and discuss some important questions linked to the key topics. Right after the workshop, in the afternoon of 20th, we will have a local meeting (maybe 1-2 hr) in which we will discuss topics linked　to sub-mm VLBI with phased-ALMA heading for ALMA cyc 5 proposal. The local meeting is open to everyone. But the main goal of the local meeting is to collect and share relevant (rather technical) information on ALMA cyc 5.
