This 21st Conference in the series will take place in Okinawa Island, Japan, from Monday 13 until 17 April 2015. This first bulletin contains the main topics for the conference, basic practical information, as well as the time line for the submission of abstracts and registration deadlines. The contents of this and future bulletins will be saved at our site: http://chep2015.kek.jp/ Best Regards, Hiroshi Sakamoto, conference chair. ================================================== CHEP 2015 BULLETIN 1 ================================================== About CHEP ---------- The International Conference on Computing in High Energy and Nuclear Physics (CHEP) is a major series of international conferences for physicists and computing professionals from the High Energy and Nuclear Physics community, Computer Science, and Information Technology. Recent conferences were held in Amsterdam (the Netherlands) in 2013, New York (USA) in 2012, and in Taipei (Taiwan) in 2010. Time table ---------- Call for Papers: Aug. 19th, 2014 Registration open: Aug. 19th, 2014 Abstract Submission Deadline: Oct. 15th, 2014 Notification of Acceptance: Dec. 15th, 2014 End of Early Bird Registration: Jan. 15th, 2015 End of Online Registration: Mar. 15th, 2015 Conference: Apr. 13th - 17th, 2015 Program --------- "Evolution of Software and Computing for Experiments" In 2015, the LHC will restart. Experimental groups at the LHC have reviewed their Run 1 experiences in detail, acquired the latest computing and software technologies, and constructed new computing models to prepare for Run 2. On the side of the intensity frontier, Super-KEKB will start commissioning in 2015, and fixed-target experiments at CERN, Fermilab and J-PARC are growing bigger in size. In nuclear physics field, FAIR is under construction and RHIC well engaged into its Phase-II research program facing increased datasets and new challenges with precision Physics. For the future, developments are progressing towards the construction of ILC. In all these projects, computing and software will be even more important than before. Beyond those examples, non-accelerator experiments are also seeking novel computing models as their apparatus and operation become larger and distributed. With much progress, thoughts and new directions made in recent years, we strongly feel we have reached the perfect time where meeting together and sharing our experiences will be highly beneficial. The scientific program of CHEP2015 will consist of plenary sessions with invited oral presentations, a number of parallel sessions comprising oral and poster presentations, and an industrial exhibition. The plenary sessions will occupy the four mornings and one afternoon (Thursday) and the parallel sessions will be held on Monday/Tuesday afternoons and in the morning of Thursday. Contributions are solicited in the form of abstracts and the Program Committee, with the help of the International Advisory Committee, will use them to finalize the program. Conference Topics ----------------- This conference covers following topics represented by 'keywords'. The keywords are categorized in two areas: Applications and Technologies. Abstract submitters should check as many keywords as they think they fit. The keywords selection is not mandatory for the abstract submissions, but warmly suggested as it helps the PC to organize the tracks. It is located in the Onna village at the center of Okinawa Island, which is located at about 1,500 km south from Tokyo, Japan. The local airport is Naha International airport. Domestic flights from the main Japanese airports to Naha are available. It takes 90 minutes by bus from Naha International airport to the Onna village. Limousine bus service will be available from the airport.
