With this circular, we want to give you more detailed and practical information - please see also the symposium website http://www-win.gsi.de/Tours2012/Tours2012.html Registration: The registration is open at the following website: http://www-win.gsi.de/Tours2012/registration.html The deadline for registration is Sunday, July 29th, 2012. Accomodation: Please make the hotel arrangement yourself. A number of rooms is blocked until July 29th for symposium participants, and it is strongly recommended to book your room before that date. When you make a reservation, mention that you register for "GSI Tours Symposium 2012"! Room rates are: 135 Euro per day for a regular symposium participant in a single room, 195 Euro per day for a couple in a double room, and for students there is a special rate at 100 Euro per day in a double room. Contact information of the hotel is found here http://www-win.gsi.de/Tours2012/accommodation.html Travel information: How to reach the symposium site by plane (recommended via Frankfurt/Main in Germany or via Zurich in Switzerland), by train or by car can be found here: http://www-win.gsi.de/Tours2012/travel.html Information concerning the shuttle bus service from Titisee-Neustadt train station to the hotel will follow later. Book of Abstracts: A book of abstracts will be provided to all participants at the begin of the symposium. Abstracts can be submitted using the WWW registration form. Deadline for submission is July 29th, 2012. Scientific Programme: The scientific programme comprises invited oral presentations in plenary and parallel sessions and contributed posters, which will be presented in a dedicated session. The following main topics will be addressed: * Nuclear Astrophysics (NAP) * Superheavy Elements (SHE) * Physics of Exotic Nuclei (PEN) * Extreme Energy Cosmic Rays (EECR) * Hypernuclei (HYP) * Nuclear Physics with Photons (NPP) The schedule is located at http://www-win.gsi.de/Tours2012/files/program.pdf and will be updated regularly. Mini-School on Sunday: On Sunday, September 2nd, preceding to the symposium, there will be a school-type event for students and younger participants. Four introductory lectures will be given by high-level experts on the following subjects: Superheavy Elements, Extreme Energy Cosmic Rays, Hypernuclei, Nuclear Physics with Photons. Therefore it is recommended that especially graduate students, young postdocs or anybody else who wants to participate in this event (of course, the mini-school is open for all participants), should arrive already on Saturday, September 1st! Poster contributions: The presentation of posters containing new material related to one of the topics mentioned above is encouraged. A dedicated poster session will be organized in the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 4th. Please mark at the registration page if you want to present a poster. Detailed instructions will follow later. Proceedings: At variance to previous Tours events, this time there will be no printed proceedings. Authors of oral and poster contributions are asked to make available their slides (possibly in modified form) and posters on the website in pdf format after the symposium. An electronic collection of the material will be sent to all participants. Student Support: For a limited number of students, financial support can be provided. Graduate students can apply for it at the registration webpage. Companions Programme: Black Forest offers many opportunities for hiking, viewing and socio-cultural events. A cultural program (e.g. romantic mills, glassblowing, hike to Feldberg, city tour to Freiburg, cloister visit, culture, etc.) will be arranged for accompanying persons along the week depending on the number of participants. Please sign at the registration web page if you are interested!
