Instr. and Meth 提供、賞金総額 1000ユーロ)が贈られます。  なお、国際会議に引き続き、MPGDの国際コラボレーションRD51の会議が9/2〜3に 予定されております。今回はRD51の会議についても参加自由ですので、興味を持た れている方はこちらにも是非ご参加下さい。 宇宙線研究所 関谷洋之 ---------------------- MPGD2011 2nd International Conference on Micro Pattern Gaseous Detectors Maiko, Kobe, Japan, August 29-September 3, 2011 2nd Bulletin The 2nd International Conference on Micro Pattern Gaseous Detectors (http://ppwww.phys.sci.kobe-u.ac.jp/~upic/mpgd2011/) will take place in Maiko, Kobe, Japan at the Seaside Hotel MAIKO VILLA KOBE (http://www.maikovilla.co.jp/english/) located in the suburbs of Kobe city, from August 29th to September 1st, 2011. The conference will be followed by the 8th RD51 Collaboration meeting on September 2-3 at the same venue. The 28th of August is the arrival day. A welcome reception will take place late that afternoon. The Conference will extend from Monday the 29th of August to Thursday the 1st of September. There will be plenary sessions and a poster session. Thursday the 1st is reserved for social activities (excursion to Awaji island) and Friday and Saturday (2nd - 3rd ) of September, will be reserved for the 8th RD51 collaboration meeting. The conference is devoted to the following MPGD topics: - New developments in MPGDs - MPGD detector physics - Simulation and Software - Electronics - Production techniques - Performance tests - MPGD Applications in i) Particle and Astroparticle Physics ii) Nuclear Physics iii) Industry, Medicine and other Applied Sciences The following special topics are also included: - Homage to George Charpak (invited speakers) - Young scientist "Charpak Award" The 8th RD51 Collaboration meeting program will include: - Parallel sessions of the Working Groups (1st day) - Collaboration Board meeting (1st day) - RD51 news (2nd day - Plenary) - Working Groups summary reports (2nd day - Plenary) - Organization issues (2nd day - Plenary) Call for Abstracts Submission of abstracts starts on March 21, 2011 and the deadline is May 13, 2011. Abstract acceptance will be communicated by June 6, 2011 at the latest. Abstracts can be submitted through the MPGD2011 conference web page. Contributions for both oral and poster presentation will be accepted. The MPGD2011 Conference Proceedings will be refereed and published with the open access scientific journal JINST. The RD51 presentations will be handled directly by the RD51 convenors. Young scientist "Charpak Award" A special Elsevier Young Scientist Award dedicated to Georges Charpak, who passed away on September 29, will be provided by the NIMA editorial board. The best young presenter(s) (aged 35 or less) at the conference will be awarded the memorial prize, which includes a 1,000 EUR (total) award, at the conference dinner on August 31st. Registration and Accommodation Registration opens on March 21th, 2011 and will close on July 22th, 2011. The conference fees (32,000 JPY) cover conference related services, the conference proceedings and the conference dinner. The discounted registration fee for students is 22,000 JPY. Participation in RD51 only, does not require any fees. Registration can be completed through the conference website (http://ppwww.phys.sci.kobe-u.ac.jp/~upic/mpgd2011/). The registration fee and hotel deposit can be paid by credit card by sending specific form (see our web site) to official agent (Kinki Nihon Tourist Co., Ltd) by Fax before registration dead line. The Seaside Hotel MAIKO VILLA KOBE provides full board (lodging and meals), for a cost of 19,000 JPY/day/person (single occupancy in twin room) or 14,500 JPY/day/person (double occupancy in twin room, or single room for young students preferable). There are 100 rooms available inside the hotel, and the reservations are handled by official agent. Full details with all registration options are given on the conference web page for the registration. Travel Maiko is located 20km west of Sannomiya (Kobe city central). From Kansai International Airport or Osaka (Itami) Airport, take an Airport Limousine bus (http://www.okkbus.co.jp/en/index.html) to Sannomiya station. Take JR train (local or rapid) west bound, (do not take s-rapid train!). Get off at Maiko station and take the shuttle bus (http://www.maikovilla.co.jp/english/access.html) or walk 7 minutes on foot. From Shinkansen line, change to JR local or rapid train (east bound) at Nishi-Akashi station, and get off at Maiko station.
