The conference covers the most recent research and developments activities in the field of micro-pattern gaseous detectors (MPGDs). MPGD technologies allow for the development of detectors with excellent spatial resolution, high-rate capability, large sensitive area, operational stability and high radiation hardness. A large number of groups worldwide are developing MPGDs for future projects in high energy particle and nuclear physics, astronomy, astro particle physics, astrophysics, condensed matter studies, and life sciences. Further fields in which MPGDs could play an important role are industrial applications, medical imaging and diagnostics, security inspections, space science, and synchrotron based science. The Conference will take place in Maiko, Kobe, Japan, at the Seaside Hotel Maiko Villa, located 20 km west of Kobe city center. The Conference will be followed by the RD51 collaboration meeting on September 2-3 at the same venue. More details will be given in the next Bulletin and at the conference web site: http://ppwww.phys.sci.kobe-u.ac.jp/~upic/mpgd2011/ International organizing committee: A. Cardini (INFN Cagliari), K.
